Martin, As you will have seen from my previous postings Unipod is
mentioned as the USB in my machine.

I don't understand that at all... Considering I've already mentioned in
passing that I backup to a PC hardrive. "...and save all the work of

At present I have an external USB Hardrive connected to the XP PC, on to
which I backup XP PC stuff and via LanMan98, and stuff from this SARPC,
but in order to do that I *have* to archive (Uncompressed) all the stuff
from this machine, otherwise it ends up in crap order, like no filetypes.
So how does your suggestion obviate the need to archive RO stuff before
shoving it over to the shared backup disk?
That's the only reason I want to RO format a USB HD.
