For viewing the RiscOS manual read in RiscOS is better than the
windoze version. If there are no effects, the "Remove effects" is not
greyed out in the Style applet window in the windoze version. Making
it more difficult to know if an effect is present at the caret's
position.
Chapter 6.3 and 6.4 of the windoze manual may give you some
additional info on the use of styles.
