TWO SUSPECTS BEING HELD FOR ILLEGAL
FIREWORK PURCHASE FOR BIRD CLUB PARTY
According to a spokesperson with the Rosedale, Va Police Department, officers
arrested two men Friday night at a local convience store after one of them was
photographed by store security cameras when he attempted to purchase illegal
fireworks to be used at a Christmas party near Tri-City Airport in Sullivan
County. A search of the suspect's car found contraband candles and matches.
At BBC deadline, authorities were not releasing the names of those being held.
The second suspect, now being detained at the Russell County Dog Pound, has not
been identified. He had no identification other than a life list of birds and
names of good and bad birders from the Bristol Bird Club. The president of BBC
did not return calls left at his home.
Authorities are asking that anyone who can identify the second suspect please
call the department's crime tip HOT line at 1-8000-922-FIRE. The subject is
believed to be Santa and to also pass himself off as a birdwatcher. He has
been seen watching house with binoculars where there are hummingbird feeders on
porches, especially in winter. The drawing at the right is an artist sketch
made while he was in custody near Burke's Garden in Tazwell County in 2003.
The judge has agreed to release the unidentified suspect to the President of a
local bird club. The Chief of Police from Rosedale cautioned that he may show
up anywhere Saturday night to take advantage of unsuspecting birders having fun
at a bird club Christmas Party. If you see anyone looking like the person at
left who is impersonating Santa, call your local fire inspector immediately.
He might be in the company of the subject who was buying illegal fireworks and
had candles and matches in his car. Both men are considered dangerous when
playing with matches.
Rosedale Police Department Chief Investigator, Detective and Crime Fighter,
Ms. Love Justice (shown at the right) has cleared her social calendar and will
attend the BBC Christmas Party to make sure that the laws are enforced,
"Justice" prevails, and our citizen birders are protected from registered Santa
offenders.
Mike Poe will certainly have one of the best BBC Christmas Parties anyone can
ever remember. Let's go birding.......
