On Monday morning, 12/5/05, there was a huge raft of mixed waterfowl numbering
in the hundreds. It consisted of Common Loons, Horned Grebes (many),
Green-winged Teal, Bufflehead, Red-breasted Mergansers (many), Ring-necked
Ducks, Scaup, Hooded Merganser, two probable Surf Scoters and who knows what
else.
I was watching from the road at 715 Harbor Point Dr. in Lake Harbor Estates at
the end of Boring Chapel Rd. near Boones Creek. There were many Wild Turkeys in
nearby fields by power lines.
I called Rick Knight and he was going to check it out. Hopefully he can provide
better details on species breakdown and numbers. I left there at 9:45 AM and
the birds were staying put at that time.
