Gilbert Derouen, Dianne Draper, Jackie Hinshaw, Reece Jamerson, Bryan Stevens 
and David Thometz spent the morning at Sycamore Shoals State Park in 
Elizabethton, Carter Co., TN, applying lights and tinsel to a tree in the 
park's 
Winterfest Tree display. Please be sure to visit the park and view the tree 
decorated by the TOS Lee & Lois Herndon Chapter's tree. The trees will be on 
display 
throughout the month of December. The ornaments are very special and the this 
year's tree is dedicated to the memory of Howard P. Langridge. 
After decorating the tree, the entire group went on a birding trip to Wilbur 
Lake and the Watauga Lake Overlook. Good birds included Northern Raven, 
Red-tailed Hawks (2), Golden-crowned Kinglets, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Hairy 
Woodpecker, Belted Kingfisher, Eastern Bluebirds and Dark-eyed Juncos. 
Waterfowl at 
Wilbur Lake included 100+ Buffleheads, several Mallards and a single American 
Wigeon drake.
