Area Birders,
The cold, wet weather that came through last night brought the First Of the
Season Fox Sparrow and 2 Pine Siskins this morning to our feeders here on
Compton Mt.
The Fox Sparrow just made a brief showing then left. The Pine Siskins fed with
the goldfinches throughout the day.
A bit later in the morning a female Purple Finch came in to take sunflower
seeds from the platform feeder after one of the resident Gray Squirrels had his
share. A Common Grackle, 10 Northern Cardinals and 5 House Finches were at the
same feeder. Two Blue Jays were here in the morning but soon left.
A pair of Downys, a female Red-bellied Woodpecker, a White-breasted Nuthatch, a
titmouse and a couple of Carolina Chickadees were eating at the suet feeder.
Under the feeders 6 White-throated Sparrows, 1 Song Sparrow and 3 juncos fed
with 3 Mourning Doves and 2 chipmunks.
Enjoy the birds,
Roger Mayhorn
