Area Birders:

Had a telephone call from Hoyt Bentley who lives in Lowry Hills, Washington
Co., VA, (north of I-81, Exit 7) reporting that he has a "partial" albino
American Robin coming to his yard.

This bird is very unusual in that it has a "black back" and white underneath
where the red breast would normally be.

I have seen several such "partial" albinos and all have been white on the back
where the black is normally seen and with the robin red breast.

My guess is that the black-backed robins with the white breast are much more
rare than the onces that are white above.

Bentley said this bird has been around since lasst spring. He says it usually
shows up, along with maybe a dozen other robins, whenever he mows his grass.

It was in his yard Thursday and again this afternoon (11/11) about 4:15 p.m.

Let's go birding.....
