This is for those of you who get excited about non-avian animals.
Saturday, October 29, the small cave system at Steele Creek Park was
explored by Kevin Elam, Eric Fields, Brian Miller, and Todd Abel. They
discovered several Eastern Pipistrelles in the cave, probably beginning
their hibernation. These mammals were found in the upper entrance to
the cave, which is near Broad Street in Bristol, TN.
On Friday, November 4, I was hiking on Lake Ridge Trail in the park, on
my way to the Overlook Trail, when I came across a Rough Green Snake.
This snake has been on record in the park, but has not been observed for
some time. The total length of this snake was 2' 3.5", which includes
an 11" tail.
