I arrived at Musick's at 5:30 pm to a warm breeze and setting sun. The only 
birds visible from the windshield as I parked on the point were two waders 
beside the pond on the left. A quick glance through the binocs magnified the 
tallish black winged white birds with a broad white wing bar. I smiled! A 
closer 
look and a single hand clap revealed the birds had gray heads and upcurved 
bills. I believe both birds to be adult non-breeding male American Avocets. A 
few 
steps closer and the grayish legs and more white on the lower edge of the wings 
came into view.
The nuts and bolts of this record are as follows:
At Musick's Campground near 5:30 pm in setting sun with Nikon 10X42 
binoculars I observed two adult male non-breeding American Avocets for ten 
minutes at 
close range (15-40 yards) with no obstructions. The birds were present upon my 
departure.
