We canoed around the Ten Islands area, between Dutch Bottoms and Rankin
Bottoms, on 10/21/06 late in the day: fewer species, higher numbers than
Don saw.

Wood Duck (24)
Northern shoveler (9)
Green-winged teal (85)
Double-crested cormorant (15)
Great blue heron (40)
Great egret (56)
American coot
Killdeer
Least sandpiper (50+)

Cocke County--Dutch Bottoms (DB), Rankin Bottoms (RB)
I visited upper Douglas Lake in Cocke County briefly in late morning and
early afternoon today. Although I had limited time to spend, I was
fortunate to find several noteworthy species. Here's a list of the day's
highlights:
Green-winged Teal (9 RB)
Pied-billed Grebe (2 DB)
Double-crested Cormorant (9 DB)
Great Egret (19)
Little Blue Heron (2 immatures RB)
American Coot (2)
Greater Yellowlegs (2 RB)
Lesser Yellowlegs (RB)
Least Sandpiper (31 DB)
Laughing Gull (juvenile DB)
Ring-billed Gull (35 DB)
Tree Swallow (230 DB)
American Pipit (2)
Yellow-rumped Warbler (2)
Palm Warbler (2)
Swamp Sparrow (RB)
