Area Birders,
The thrushes were really active this morning in the thick fog here on Compton
Mt. Several were feeding with TOWHEES and GRAY CATBIRDS on Dogwood berries. At
least 2 SWAINSON'S fed in the fog as well as 2 GRAY-CHEEKED and 3 WOOD
THRUSHES. I could hear more birds fluttering about under the trees but it was
too dark to ID them.
Other birds found out in the open where they could be identified were a female
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, a PALM WARBLER, a TN WARBLER, 2 BROWN THRASHERS, 2 CEDAR
WAXWINGS, 15 CHIPPING SPARROWS, 2 ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS, 2 SCARLET TANAGERS,
6 BLUE JAYS, 6 BLUEBIRDS, 2 EASTERN WOOD PEWEES, 1 EASTERN PHOEBE, 1
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, 1 NORTHERN FLICKER, and 1 juvenile WHITE-EYED VIREO.
Enjoy the birds,
Roger Mayhorn
