Bristol Birders:
Here is today's schedule for the wonderful and
exciting Wildlife Weekend at Steele Creek Park
Nature Center in Bristol, Tennessee. Events
are free. You'll love it. Bring the family and jump
right in. Don't forget Rick Knight's big talk on
the search for the Ivory-billed Woodpecker at
Pearl River earlier this year. He was a searcher.
Friday, October 18
7:00 - 8:00 PM Where have all the Quail Gone? - Chris
Wolkonowaski, State Director of Quail Unlimited and Wildlife Biologist, will
present a program on the history of quail in Tennessee and what landowners
can do to help quail. If you enjoy quail or are a landowner this program is
for you!
8:00 - 9:00 PM SEARCH FOR THE IVORY-BILLED WOODPECKER - Rick
Knight was a member of a six person team to spend a month in the swamps of
Louisiana looking for the presumed, extinct Ivory-billed Woodpecker. Rick
will share his experiences with the expedition and what was learned.
9:00 - 9:30 PM Campfire Program - NOCTURNAL NOISES -Bring a
blanket and your listening ears. We will sit around the campfire while
enjoying some snacks as we listen for owls and other nocturnal animals.
