Birstol Area Birders:

A Horned Grebe at Middlebrook Lake, Bristol, Sullivan Co., TN
today (10/14),  was one day short of the earliest Northeast Tennessee
record of 13 Oct 1996.

Other birds there were Ring-necked Duck 26, Wood Duck 3, Pied-billed
Grebe 1.  Two resident Mute Swans, Canada Geese, Killdeer, Mallards.

American Wigeon (6) have arrived at the South Holston Weir Dam on the
TVA reservation below South Holston Dam, Sullivan Co.    This is a
regular wintering area for the species.  Another 8 were at Musick's
Campground, South Holston Lake (TN).

Also at Musick's Campground was a tight raft of 116 American Coot,
Eared Grebe 1, Forester's Tern 2, Pied-billed Grebe 12, Great Blue
Heron 6, Canada Goose 50 (est.). 

At South Holston Dam:  Herring Gull 1,  Ring-billed Gull 8, Pied-billed
Grebe 3.

I was birding alone.  Looks like the cold front brought some action.
