[bristol-birds] Elizabethton Fall Count

The Herndon chapter of TOS conducted its annual
Fall Bird Count on Sat., 5 Oct (a week later than average).
19 observers in 6-7 parties covered Carter Co. and parts
of adjacent counties (Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, Washington).
119 species were reported (20 year average is 122.6 spp.)
highlights included:
Com. Loon (1), Great Egret (1), Bufflehead (1), Bald Eagle (1)
Peregrine Falcon (1), Wild Turkey (67), Caspian Tern (2),
Barn Owl (2), N. Saw-whet Owl (3), Com. Nighthawk (3),
Tree Swallow (4), Com. Raven (23), Marsh Wren (4),
Sedge Wren (1), Loggerhead Shrike (3), Philadelphia Vireo (1),
16 species of warblers, Blue Grosbeak (1), Lincoln's Sparrow (3),
Swamp Sparrow (2), White-crowned Sparrow (1).
