Excitement is high for this week's 12th annual conference of the
Tennessee Herpetological Society which will be held in Northeast
Tennessee.
Academicians, students, resource managers, researchers and
the general public are welcome to attend all events during the
three-days which begins Thursday (Sep. 27).
The conference is being hosted by East Tennessee State
University and Virginia Highlands Community College.
Thursday's keynote speaker will be Dr. James Organ who
will speak at 1:15 p.m. on the subject "Salamanders of
Southwest Virginia." His Life History of the Pigmy
Salamander, Desmognathus wrighti, in Virginia, conducted while

the first event at the massive, new, Natural History Museum of
