[Bristol-Birds] FOS Purple Finch - Red-breasted Nuthatch

Hi All,
Yesterday, the 19th, a female Purple Finch came to drink at our yard stream
here on Compton Mt. setting a new early date for the area. We have only one
previous record of the species being seen in September, and that was September
29th in 2001.
A Red-breasted Nuthatch that showed up last Saturday is hanging around and
coming to take sunflower seeds from a feeder.
With the failure of seed and nut crops in Canada this year and the sightings
already of Evening Grosbeaks in southern WV, maybe we will get a good irruption
southward this year of interesting birds.
