[Bristol-Birds] Obit: Sara Jane Carter Knight

      Sara Jane Carter Knight, 73, Johnson City, died Friday Sept. 15, at NHC 
of Johnson City following a lengthy illness.

      She is the mother of Rick Knight, a prominent Northeast Tennessee birder 
and member of the Herndon Chapter of TOS and the Bristol Bird Club. 

      Graveside services will be held today at 11:00 AM from Fairview Cemetery. 

      She was a native of Washington County, TN and was the daughter of the 
late Lee McKinley and Mary Anne Keys Carter. In addition to her parents, she 
was preceded in death by an infant son Mark P. Knight and sister Mary Emma 
Johnson. 

      Mrs. Knight was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and was a 
retired schoolteacher having taught many years in the Washington County School 
System at the Jonesborough Middle School.  She was also an avid bowler. 

      She was a member of Marvin's Chapel United Methodist Church. 

      In addition to Rick, she is survived by one daughter: Sandy Knight, 
Johnson City; grand daughter: Nola Knight, Johnson City; brothers: Billy Lee 
Carter and Clyde Carter, both of Johnson City; sisters: Carolyn Baird and 
Dorothy C. Rose both of Johnson City and Patricia Baird of Morristown; special 
friend: Ida Honeycutt of Johnson City and several nieces and nephews. 

      Funeral services were conducted Sunday evening from the Dillow-Taylor 
Funeral Home Chapel at Jonesborough with Rev. Ricky Clowers and Minister Byron 
Paddock officiating. 

      Active pallbearers are be Jeff Larimer, Ken Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Ronny 
Baird, David Rose, Dan Baird, Duane Rose and Dale Rose. Honorary pallbearers 
are be Kurtis Fullbright, Steve Jellicourse, and Blane Bishop. 

      Memorial donations may be made to the Marvin's Chapel United Methodist 
Church activity center fund 1882 Old Boones Creek Rd., Gray, TN 37615.
