Mendota Hawk Watch report for 9/15/06
Considering the great flying weather and the date, it was a relatively slow
day. Someone was on duty from 9:15 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Those helping out today
included Bob Quillen and Ron Harrington of Bristol; and Dr. Malcolm Jones,
Ron Pendleton and Bill Grigsby, all from Kingsport. We had an early morning fog
that slowly gave way to partly cloudy conditions, then mostly sunny late in
the day. The first Broad-winged hawk came by at 9:45. Winds were light, 5-10
mph, shifting from N/NE in the a.m. to E/SE around noon, then back to the N/NE
in
afternoon. Visibility was 5-10 miles due to haze most of the day.
