Area Birders,
While doing my morning yard birding, I found several BLACKBURNIANS, CAPE
MAYS, MAGNOLIAS and lots of TENNESSEES. However, the most surprising event
was to see a TENNESSEE gathering nesting material. At first I thought it
might be just trying to get insects from the material, but while watching it
closely with binos I saw that it had some material in its bill and was
gathering still more. within moments it had a mouthful. It then flew a short
distance behind some Goldenrod, but there were so many TENNESSEES I couldn't
keep up with it. The flock later moved on. I never saw it again. I think
that maybe its hormones are a little askew.
Has anyone else ever encountered this during fall migration?
