[bristol-birds] American Pipit at Rural Retreat Lake

Glen Eller:
My wife ( Carolyn) and I went to Rural Retreat Lake in Wythe Co., VA
Sunday to look for the Upland Sandpipers and found an
American Pipit. It was active and noisy and allowed very close
approach as it stood on several small clumps of sod. It was at
the same place you had reported the sandpipers.
We searched many of the fields (needle in a haystack considering
the number of fields and the vast area) but we did not come
up with the sandpipers. I walked over much of the field that you
mentioned just west of the road that goes into the lake park
type area. I did search thru the many killdeer.
Thanks for the tip. Appreciate your good postings.
