The Bristol Bird Club established a standing committee Wednesday to research
and plan annual birding tours to areas of Central America, South America and
the West Indies.
The group will be known as the BBC Rainforest Adventures Committee. The
committee was established as a result of the club's semi-annual planning
meeting held at Shoney's in Bristol and a highly successful recent trip to
Trinidad and Tobago.
BBC President Bill Grigsby appointed Dr. John Moyle as chairman. Committee
members include Dave Worley, Jacki Hinshaw, Mary Jane Erwin, Larry McDaniel and
Janice Martin. All members have birded various locales throughout the
Caribbean island countries, dependencies and territories as well as Central and
South America.
The July trip to the northern area of Central America produced 178 species with
birders each easily getting 70+ life birds.
Other results from the planning meeting will appear in a later post.
