Hey Wallace,
I've always been in awe of your ability to identify birds without
actually having to see or hear them. This amazing ability is known as Zen
birding.
Whenever you duck and look up, I hit the dirt, because I know there must be a
Great Horned Owl or somesuch ready to tear my head off. That's why I follow
you around, so I can observe the Master of Near Total Awareness at work.
Especially at lunchtime, when nobody else can find even a chicken leg.
Speaking of lunchtime, I expect to be in the Musick's Campground area
around then today. Dianne Draper and I are looking for birds somewhere in
pleasant surroundings. After Wednesday's adventure walking around the ponds at
Kingston Steam Plant on the Trently Bros. Memorial Death March, we are ready
for
higher elevations and cooler temperatures. Perhaps after a visit to Musick's
(with or without tomatoes), we will go to Mendota to look for early migrating
raptors. Dianne has never been there.
I hope we run into some real birders today, even you. Any birders out
there that are in the area and want to catch up with us can call me on my
cellphone, (423) 914-5862. Have a birdy day!
