Rankin Wildlife Management Area (Cocke Co., TN)

Observed today at Rankin from the shore near the tipple and at the
entrance area adjacent to the railroad track:

Double-crested Cormorant (71);
Great Blue Heron (5);
Great Egret (80);
Green Heron (6);
Black-crowned Night-Heron (3);
Canada Goose (18);
Wood Duck (4);
Mallard (15);
Osprey;
Killdeer (17);
Semipalmated Plover (2);
Lesser Yellowlegs (5);
Spotted Sandpiper;
Semipalmated Sandpiper (11);
Least Sandpiper (6);
Pectoral Sandpiper (6);
Short-billed Dowitcher (2);
Caspian Tern;
Chimney Swift (5);
Ruby-throated Hummingbird;
Belted Kingfisher;
Eastern Phoebe (2);
Empidonax flycatcher (Willow?).

The water is still pretty high, and most of the mudflats are far from
the road.  A scope is essential for viewing.  Even so, I still had a
hard time seeing many of the shorebirds decently.  The identity of quite
a few peeps remained elusive to me as I simply couldn't enough detail to
make the call.
