[Bristol-Birds] For What It's Worth

Got a couple of fair shots of the barn owl Wallace wrote about. The wife has
pretty good eyesight to see it.

The current edition of Birds and Blooms has a short article about bird eating
habits. It says"One thing is certain. Birds don't depend on the senses of smell
and taste like humans do. For example, humans have 9,000 taste buds, while
songbirds have fewer than 50." WOW It goes on to say you can put cayenne pepper
in birdseed to discourage squirrels. The birds stay away but the birds eat. I
did not have any cayenne pepper so today a put some crushed red pepper in my
feeders and the squirrels loved it. Birds did also.

Had a raven flying up Walnut Hill Road yesterday afternoon about one mile west
of Bristol.

Rational comments appreciated.
