Webb Bridge
South Fork Holston River
Sullivan County, TN

A new Cliff Swallow colony has been found under the Webb Bridge on the South
Fork Holston River. It
appears to have ~ 300 nest or so. I bird the area frequently but this is the
first time I recall having
seen the swallows there. I am not aware of anyone else having posted their
presence. This area is
also known as Riverside and is on Old Weaver Pike.

On 20 Apr 2007 Cliff Swallows (~ 300 birds) were swirling about the bridge over
the river at the traditional nesting
colony at Emmet Bridge where the highway crosses just below the downstream tip
of Osceola Island near the
Weir Dam which if 4.5 river miles upstream from the new colony which is located
at river mile 39.5.

Let's go birding......
