Susan,
Nice find for northeast Tenn., as there are few nesting sites for
Prothonotaries in this region.
Also, the date ties the late date for a nest with young according to the Tenn.
Breeding Bird Atlas.
So, please keep us posted about the outcome of this nesting, including the date
of fledging.

A flash of yellow caught my eye in the front yard this morning - coming out of
the Kentucky-style Bluebird house!
Took a double take and went to investigate - Prothonotary warbler nestlings (3)
in a dainty moss nest atop a used House Wren nest made in early spring!
Nestlings appear to be a few days old.
There appear to be 3 nestlings - both male and female are feeding young.
A fine surprise on a summer morning!
