Birding by canoe (electric-motor powered):

WOOD STORK - 1  (first record there that I'm aware of & one of few in
East Tenn.) - seen at dusk.

D-cr Cormorant - 60+
Gr. Blue Heron - 40+
Great Egret - 80+
Little Blue Heron - 7+ imm.
Black-cr. Night-Heron - 20+
Osprey - 3
Lesser Yellowlegs - 2
Solitary Sandpiper - 2
Spotted Sandpiper - 7
Least Sandpiper - 26+
Pectoral Sandpiper - 22+
Prothonotary Warbler - 2+
Tree Swallow - 250+

note:  The lake level is still too high to reveal any mud flats at the
traditional land-based birding area at Rankin.  The canoe allowed access
to isolated sites along the river bank that had limited shorebird
habitat exposed.  The Wood Stork might possibly be seen from the
traditional site (near the coal tipple) near dusk as it goes to roost.
Patient scanning will be needed.
