[Bristol-Birds] Redheaded Woodpecker, Bobwhite

While working today on some Johnson City sites in the Gray area, I found myself
talking to my contact at the Gray fossil site while he gave me the nickel tour.
The museum being built there is AMAZING. It is HUGE. The outside is nearly
complete with a lot of work still to do on the inside. When it is finished it
will be a tremendous attraction for our area and the amazing fossils they are
continuing to find.
While on the tour a Bobwhite Quail started to sing and my friend said he had
seen a covey of them near the road behind the Fossil Site (in the area of
Boonesboro Rd). I then asked how the redheaded woodpecker colony was doing and
he said, except for the one hit by the car, he still sees them frequently.
After the quick tour was over (and I found my first fossil bone on the spoil
pile - it was a wee little tiny bone), I walked back out to where I was parked
and saw one of the Redheaded Woodpecker on a favorite dead limb it frequents.
The Gray Fossil site is on Hwy 75, southwest of Gray, TN, just before you reach
Daniel Boone School in Washington County, TN.
