[Bristol-Birds] Barn Owls nesting at Bluff City

Thursday evening, Ron Harrington, Bob Cheers and I saw a Barn Owl's nest on
the South Fork Holston River less than a mile upstream from Bluff City in
Sullivan Co., TN.
The three of us were at the home of a friend. The nest was in a cavity located
near the top of a large Sycamore tree which was leaning over the river. It was
virtually dark by the time the birds were out and active. There were several
cries of young which seemed to also be out and flying. At least one adult was
heard to scream several times at close range. We could see the birds in the
river fog and get a flashlight on them as they flew about. However, we never
did get one perched or in enough lighted condition to get a good look through
binoculars. This is a new nesting location for Barn Owls.
Let's go birding.....
