Around 2000' elevation off Hwy 421 in Bristol, TN lies a Forest Service road
at which our party birded at about 8PM. Our targets were owls and goatsuckers.
Our results were warblers and sparrows! Sammy got a lifer in a very
cooperative Canada Warbler. Others present were a male Chestnut-sided Warbler,
E.
Towhee and Wood Thrush.
Not content with our findings we climbed to about 2400' elevation to another
Forest Service road access and again listened for owls and goatsuckers. This
time our fortune improved as at least one Whip-poor-will call was repeatedly
belted out (around 8:50PM). This was a lifer for all of us!
'Til we bird again
