Rack Cross, BBC Fun Fest Event Chairman
Kingsport Greenbelt
Netherland Inn Road
Kingsport, TN
This morning 17 participants turned out under overcast skies to take part in
the first BBC Fun Fest Greenbelt Birdwalk. Mary Jane Erwin was our group
leader and recorded 27 species of birds identified! The barrier-free walk
departed
from the Civitan picnic shelter on Netherland Inn Road and meandered along
Kingsport's Greenbelt toward the confluence of forks of the Holston River.
Highlights of this mornings trip include:
Baltimore Oriole (pair)
Double-crested Cormorant
Belted Kingfisher
Pileated Woodpecker
Cedar Waxwing
Red-eyed Vireo
This walk concludes the BBC / Ward's Feed Store sponsored barrier free Fun
Fest events for 2003. Positive feedback is already abuzz from members /
participants and Fun Fest officials.
I want to thank Bill Grigsby and Mary Jane Erwin for agreeing to head up
this year's walks. Without their willing leadership these events would have
been
much less of a success. Also a great deal of gratitude is due the numerous BBC
members who showed up at each of the events to ensure all went smoothly, and
it did! Finally thank you to all the participants who made all the effort
worthwhile.
'Til we bird again
