[bristol-birds] White Top Mountain Birding

Area Birders,
Today Larry McDaniel,a member of the Bristol Bird Club, in connection with
the Highlands Festival in Abingdon, VA, led a birding trip from Damascus, VA
to the summit of White Top Mountain.
With nine birders in attendance Larry did an excellent job of pointing out
the birds seen and heard, as well as many plant species along the way. The
highlights were Black-throated Blue Warblers both male and female, a Canada
Warbler,a Black-throated Green Warbler,
and a Black-and white Warbler. Unfortunately, the Alder Flycatcher, needed
by some in the group was not located.
Other species found were:

Louisiana Waterthrush
Red-eyed Vireo
Least Flycatcher
Carolina Chickadee
Eastern Phoebe
Barn Swallow
Indigo Bunting
Northern Cardinal

American Robin
Carolina Wren
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Dark-eyed Junco
Song Sparrow
American Crow
Common Raven
Blue Jay
American Goldfinch
House Finch
Northern Bob White
Mourning Dove
Belted Kingfisher
Northern Flicker
Downy Woodpecker
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Sharp-shinned Hawk
Turkey Vulture
Roger Mayhorn
