Bristol Area Birders,
Yesterday, 7/8/02, 3 members of the Buchanan Co. Bird club birded the
Damascus-Whitetop Station area looking for the Alder Flycatchers. Present
were Roger and Lynda Mayhorn and fellow member, David Raines. The Alders
were not located, but 39 species were logged. One possible Alder was seen
for a moment. The bird was not vocal and a positive ID could not be made.
The House Wrens and the Common Yellowthroats were very vocal and the
Chestnut-sided Warblers were spectacular in their plumage. One beautifully
colored female came down to eye level to look us over. One Veery and one
Dark-eyed Junco were singing. Although the target species was missed it was
still a great birding day. Following is the complete list.
