I had a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron flying over Betsy Town Shopping Center along 
Highway 19E in Elizabethton on Thursday, June 28.  This location is adjacent to 
the Doe River. I am used to seeing Yellow-crowns near Sycamore Shoals State 
Park along the Watauga River, but I don't recall seeing one in this area of 
town in the past.
