[Bristol-Birds] Re: [TN-Bird] Black-throated Green Warbler

Odd coincidence: while reading Chuck's email, a BTG warber flew up to the nest material cache hanging outside the window and pulled out a clump of cat hair. I've only seen that happen once before.

There was only one record of a Black-throated Green Warbler from west of the
Cumberland Plateau reported during the 86-91 atlas fieldwork. This report
was from Cheatham County, which, like Lewis County, is on the Western
Highland Rim. I recall a couple or so other reports of potentially breeding
birds from the Western Highland Rim during the early-mid 1990s, but I
haven't searched back issues of The Migrant for these records.

Let us know if your bird stays around.

A Black-throated Green Warbler singing at my place (western Lewis
County) this morning (5/31/06) is probably a late transient, but I'll
keep an ear and eye out in case it proves to be a breeder. I would
think nesting this far west in Tennessee would be very unusual, but I
don't have a copy of the breeding bird atlas handy.
