[Bristol-Birds] SAHC Event at Hampton Creek Cove

Come to the following SAHC events July 2 ? July 4!
?Winged Wonders of the Hampton Creek Cove State Natural Area?
July 2, 8 am
Meet at 8 am at ETSU in Excursion Departure Lot, arrive back at ETSU
3pm, bring bag lunch and binoculars.
Dr. Jerry Nagel, retired ETSU biology professor, will lead a walk along
the Birchfield Trail that traverses highland farmland and the
Left Prong of Hampton Creek, a premiere brook tout stream in Tennessee.
Expect to hear the early morning songs of the Willow flycatcher, the Alder
flycatcher and the Golden-winged warbler. Later in the afternoon hikers
will enjoy the beautiful and graceful Meadow fritillary, Great Spangled
fritillary, Aphrodite fritillary and, if lucky, spot the exclusive
Appalachian endemic, Diana fritillary.
?Nature Hike at Hampton Creek Cove State Natural Area?
July 4, 8am
Meet at 8am at ETSU in Excursion Departure Lot, arrive back at ETSU at noon.
Allan Trently, former SAHC seasonal ecologist, will lead a nature
interpretative hike along the Birchfield Trail to the end of the cove and
back. The hike should last about 2.5 hours.
"Roan Reflections" reception
July 3, 2-4 pm
Carroll Reece Museum (across the parking lot from the exhibit area in the
Culp Center)
You are invited to attend the opening reception for "Roan Reflections,"
a juried show sponsored by the Southern Appalachian Highlands
Conservancy. Come to enjoy the beauty and scenery of the Highlands of Roan
as captured
and interpreted by SAHC photographers whose works were selected by the
noted photographer Tim Barnwell of Asheville. Refreshments will be served.
The show will also be open during the ATC meeting from 9-4 each weekday,
except for July 4.
