Sorry I'm late posting BUT I saw a yellow billed cuckoo, indigo bunting,
yellow breasted chat, red bellied woodpecker, prairie warbler, tufted
titmouse,
Carolina chickadee, wild turkey, deer, and several others on the Sinking Creek
trail at Warriors Path last Thursday, June 23. The Sinking Creek trail is
very nice but sparsely used trail offering several different habitats with lots
of "edges". I didn't even know it existed or that the park extended into this
area until last year. I have, however, always seen something of interest at
any time that I hiked all three loops. The yellow billed cuckoo was a life
bird for me!!! He stayed in the same area for 10+ minutes giving me a close
view
and looks from all angles. The cuckoo was at the very end of the third loop
(near the marshy area where the creek enters the cave). If you are not
familiar with the trail and would like further info or directions, drop me an
e-mail
or give me a call (423-323-9307) and I'll provide directions on how to get
there. I might even walk with you and show you where I've spotted the various
birds if you're interested (and my legs are cooperating). Happy trails and
birding!
At your service,
Mitch
