Rack Cross
Greenbelt, Kingsport, TN
Winged Deer Park, Johnson City, TN
Sunday, June 1, Carol, Sammy and I enjoyed the cool of the evening by
checking the Yellow-crowned Night Heron nests along the Greenbelt at the end of
American Way Drive. At least two nests have young. At least one of these two
has a
minimum of two chicks.
The trail by the restrooms near the boat loading ramp below Winged Deer Park
in Johnson City was active with bird flight and song just before sunset. Cedar
waxwings and trio of Orchard orioles were highlights.
BTW, the Great Texas Birding Bonanza (GTBB) with Bob Quillen and Dave Worley
was a blast! The bird of the trip remains a close call between the
Rose-throated Becard, White-collared Seedeater and several colorful eyepleasers!
