The BBC's weekend at Rikemo Lodge will begin Friday night (June 14) and
the gate and lodge will be open by 6 p.m. We ask that everyone be there
before dark. Please do not come late and wakeup those who are in early
for a night's rest before the next morning activities. Those coming for
Friday night are expected to help with logistics.
Those coming Saturday morning should arrive in plenty of time to take
part in the 8 a.m. canoe trip if that is what you are planning to do.
Otherwise you can arrive by noon or short thereafter. The canoe trip
is expected to be off the water and back at the lodge by 2 p.m.
The afternoon, evening and Sunday morning will be full of briding and
nature walks.
We must all be cleared out of the lodge no later than 11 a.m. Sunday.
There will be no late checkouts for any reason whatsoever.
ROOM ASSIGNMENTS:
Office Quarters: Jill Riendeau & Tom Horsch
Room: Dave Worley, Diana Worley, Janice Martin, Fred Martin
Room: Ron Lapp, Rose Lapp, Debbie Dereska
Room: Carolyn Coffey, Wallace Coffey
Room: Mary Erwin, Mary Evans, Mike Evans
Room: Larry McDaniel & Don Holt
Persons sleeping in the lodge area on pullout couches or sleeping
bags on the floor John Hay, Judy Musick, Ed Talbott and Michelle Talbott.
Those sleeping in the lodge are asked to bring their own sleeping bags.
The lodge occupants will either use the community bathroom in the hall
or someone will offer to share their bedroom bath with you.
We have five full bedrooms each with two double beds and a large
bathroom with a tub which I think has a shower head. These are very
comfortable rooms with alarm clocks but no TV and no phones. There
is one telephone on the site for very special needs. If you need to be
making calls home bring a cellphone or arrange with someone who
has one. Be sure and bring the charger for your phones. We can not
promise who can or cannot get connected to a cell tower from this
location. You can try. There is no TV at the lodge.
Everyone is ask to bring everything you need for your dinner if you
come on Friday, all breakfasts and your Saturday lunch. Jill will
cater our dinner with drinks on Saturday.
Bring your own drinks, ice, eating ware, paper plates, cups, napkins,
and the works. There will be blankets, pillows and sheets for the
beds in each of the five bedrooms. There will be towels but everyone
should bring their own. Everyone takes home their own trash so make
sure you bring a plastic trash bag.
Just make sure you bring whatever is needed to take care of any
and all of your personal needs. This is a manage yourself weekend.
Regarding Sunday, another group will be checking in the lodge at 3 p.m.
Sunday afternoon. Regular check-out time is 11 a.m. It takes a good
four hours to turn the lodge for new guests. It is really important that
BBC participants be out of the lodge by 11 a.m.; if you want to stay
and bird watch into the afternoon, that's fine. The Nature Conservancy
just need to get in no later than 11 a.m. Also, if you would please
follow the posted rules regarding stripping the beds and carrying off
your garbage, that would be a great help for the caretaker.
There should be a path mowed to the pond which should provide good birding.
TNC is happy to have us their guests and hope we have a great visit.

facility person for The Conservancy.
We are looking forward to this weekend. You will have a blast. It should
be more fun than you can imagine.
Let's go birding....
