Thanks to Allan and Rob for working together to publicize the Mourning
Warbler.
Howard Langridge (Elizabethton, TN) and I went to try for the bird on
Saturday (June 8) morning. We were successful at hearing it sing and getting
some good glimpses.
On the way to that location from the parking lot at Carvers Gap we also had
15 Alder's Flycatchers, almost as many Chestnut-sided Warblers, Eastern
Towhees, Gray Catbirds, American Robins, Cedar Waxwings, Veeries,
Red-breasted Nuthatches, a single Pine Siskin (in parking lot) and an adult
male Common Yellowthroat in the same vicinity as the Mourning Warbler.
This was a special warbler for me. It's my 35th Eastern warbler. I now need
Cerulean Warbler and Connecticut Warbler. Then I'll worry about the
Kirtland's and Golden-cheeked.
Bryan Stevens,
Hampton, TN
