Hi Tess,

I still feed in the summer at home in Hampton, TN, in Carter County.

Thistle for the American goldfinches, sugar water for the hummingbirds and a 
little sunflower seed for whatever wants it. In my case, the Northern 
Cardinals, Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Chickadees, White-breasted Nuthatches, 
House Finches, and Downy Woodpeckers are still coming to feeders. I put out 
much less sunflower seed at a time in the summer.

I was putting out some commercial suet cakes, and I think many birds were 
using it to feed babies because they would fly off with chunks of suet.

Oh, and I also put out a little millet for Mourning Doves and Indigo 
Buntings. The Brown-headed Cowbirds also like it. Oh, well.

And a few strawberries, perhaps discards, are appreciated by Gray Catbirds.

As you can see, the list can go on and on, and doesn't even mention plantings 
that attract birds. 

The food (usually) doesn't go as fast, so I don't put out as much. But there 
are still plenty of birds that will take advantage of food offerings in the 
summer.
