I have at least one family of Carolina Wrens in the yard which I scared up
twice while gardening causing me to guiltly retreat. Most years they nest in
my basement or somewhere else in the yard. This year we have 2 Brown Thrasher
chicks in the grass-they don't seem able to fly yet but the parents are in
close attendence chasing off squirrels and, one hopes, the neigbor's cat. We
had a pair of Towhees for about six weeks this spring which disappeared as
suddenly as they arrived, suddenly there was no more "Drink your teeeee!". And
the mourning doves are back for round 2 on the back porch having sent their
first brood off to college....
