Lee & Lois Herndon Chapter TOS members Reece Jamerson, Kim Stroud, Jean
Potter, Bryan Stevens and David Kirschke helped lead a bird walk today at
Sycamore
Shoals State Park, Elizabethton. Four members of the public turned out for the
walk. Highlights included male Blackpoll Warbler, Northern Waterthrush,
Veery, several Spotted Sandpipers and Green Herons.
After the walk, Reece, Kim, Jean and Bryan continued to bird. A trip to
Musick's Campground, S. Holston Lake, Sullivan County, produced four
Double-crested
Cormorants.
Paddlecreek Pond near Bristol produced four (4) Grasshopper Sparrows as well
as a Green Heron, and a few Spotted Sandpipers and Solitary Sandpipers.
At this point, Reece, Jean and Bryan continued birding in Elizabethton at
Rasar's Farm, where they saw two Great Blue Herons, four Wood Ducks, several
Spotted Sandpipers, a Solitary Sandpiper and a Semipalmated Plover. The plover
was
a new state bird for Jean.
Bryan Stevens,
Hampton, TN
