At 4:30 p.m. Bert Hale's son called and said surgery (which lasted just over 
2 hours) is completed.
All is going as well as expected and about as expected.  The growth in his 
lung was malignant.
The upper lobe of lung was removed.  A biopsy of a lymph node has been 
collected and sent for lab work.  He is in recovery. Family has not yet been 
in to see him.  If lymph node is clean he may walk away without radiation or 
chemo.
