[Bristol-Birds] Bristol Bird Club Meeting, Tuesday, May 16, 2006

The meeting of the Bristol Bird Club last Tuesday enjoyed an narrated slide show by Rick Knight of field trips led by Gary Wallace throughout the years. Destinations included national parks and monuments, wildlife refuges, BLM camping areas, and seashores, from Maine to California, from the Florida Keys, to Montana and Canada. I don't have the complete list because after a while, I forgot to take notes because I was enjoying the pictures. I have seen many of those places in books and magazines. Showing birds and other wildlife seen in those special places made the program very interesting.

We didn't have much time for business, but will be discussing activities for the calendar at the upcoming weekend at Natural Tunnel State Park. Remember that we have walks on Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM. The walks will meet at the front porch of the Cove Ridge Center at the park.

One of the items that we will discuss at NTSP will be manning a booth at the Highlands Festival in Abingdon between July 29th and August 13th. We will not have a booth the entire time. The booth it being provided to the BBC by the Holston River Soil & Conservation District, USDA (Shauna Russell). We need to advise them when we want the booth. I am sure that we can't staff it for the entire time or perhaps even all the weekends. We may only be able to do it one or two days. Let me know what you think and what days you could help.

Remember the other upcoming events: Kingsport Funfest Bird Walks at Bays Mountain Park July 15th and 22nd sponsored by Wards Feed Store; the BBC Picnic at Steele Creek Park, July 1st; the next regularly scheduled BBC meeting, July 18th (location - TBA) with a exciting program.

Attending the meeting were Don Holt*, Jacki Henshaw*, Nancy Necessary, Diana and Dave Worley*, Karen Quesenberry*, Janice and Fred Martin *, Mary Erwin *, Judy Roach, John Moyle, Jack Litz*, Ellen Parker*, Charlie Parker*, Chris O'Bryan*, Rudy Morales*, Rob Biller, Reece Jamerson*, Rick Knight*, and Bill Grigsby*. Those mared with an * met for dinner at the Mad Greek.
