Bristol Birders,
Michelle and I, along with Frank Kilgore, enjoyed a hike up Virginia's 5th
highest peak on Sunday.  We covered about 10 miles and found some
high-altitude breeders in the Spruce forest on top of the mountain.  We
spotted Winter Wrens, both Kinglets, Juncos, BT-Green Warblers, Red-breasted
Nuthatches, and Common Ravens.  The Ruby-crowned Kinglet was a surprise and
I guess it will be heading north soon.

At the "mud hole" in Elk Garden we spotted a Lesser Yellowlegs but had only
a few seconds to scan the area as we were following someone.  There were
several shorebirds around the pond and someone with a scope should check it
out this week if they have a chance.
