Birders
This week Dr. Angelo Capparella announced he had accepted the NC Museum of
Natural Sciences Curatorship on Carolina Birds listserv. Dr. Capparella was a
part of the expedition recorded in the book, "Parrot Without a Name." Having
been taken aback from this read I contacted Dr. Capparella and shared the
connection our area (there are many) had with expedition. To my surprise he
responded
that he had visited Kingsport before with Van Remsen's wife, Catherine, whose
family resides there.
I asked Dr. Capparella if our program director might contact him regarding a
program for the Bristol Bird Club in the future. Below is his response:
.
I'd be happy to head your way for a program sometime in the future once
I get settled into my new position. I have lots of slides from that
expedition,
and from the barbet expedition that I emailed the listserv about today; in
many ways, it was more exciting that even the parrot trip!
