     On Saturday, May 10, 2003, the Elizabethton Bird Club will have a field 
trip in Washington County.  We will meet at 8 am beside the sign in the 
parking lot of Ingles grocery store on 11E, WEST of Jonesborough (NOT between 
Jonesborough and Johnson City as I mistakenly posted earlier).
     The trip is open to all.  We will carpool to minimize necessary parking 
space, stopping at several sites throughout the day, and nothing strenuous 
required.  Being prepared for wet grass and light rain is recommended, just 
in case.  We will stop to eat where and when the group decides.
     Several interesting species have been seen in the area recently, 
including Red-headed Woodpecker at Bowmantown, Dickcissel at Limestone, and 
Bobolink near Jackson Farm.  Several ponds and wetlands in the area, 
including Westview Pond, offer the possibility of shorebirds.  Who knows what 
else might turn up?  Join us for a fun day afield!
