[Bristol-Birds] Honaker, VA Redbud Festival Bird and Wildflower Walk

A record number of participants braved the intermittent showers at the 6th 
annual Honaker Red Bud Festival Bird and Wildflower walk on Saturday the 19th 
at Slate's Farm Campground. The red bud trees are in bloom and especially 
beautiful this year. Bob Montgomery and Tom Hunter of the Russell County Bird 
Club led 20 birders and wildflower enthusiasts along the trail of an old 
railroad bed beside the Clinch River. We had great participation and the 
leaders would like to thank Amy Gilmer, Dave Worley, Peggy Herbert, Travis 
Ratliff and all of the participants for their help in finding and identifying 
birds and wildflowers. 
Despite the showers, there were 46 species found. The highlights included an 
Osprey, Sharp-shinned Hawk, American Kestrel, Red-tailed Hawk, Yellow-throated 
Warblers, a breeding plumage Yellow-rumped Warbler and a singing Scarlet 
Tanager. A complete trip list follows:
