[Bristol-Birds] American Woodcock

Hello!
I forgot to post that we had a woodcock fly into a window outside of one of
the campus buildings here last week and kill itself. Unfortunate, but a
nice specimen.
Also, the bird class went out on Wed. morning of this week on campus and
saw lots of common stuff (cardinals, meadowlark, goldfinches, phoebes,
towhees, etc.). We did see several snipe in the field behind the college
as well as several male red-winged blackbirds on one of the wetland
areas. Also, we got a really good look at a red-shouldered hawk that seems
to be a resident in the area...Phil Shelton has seen one nesting either on
campus or nearby for several years. This one is probably the same one seen
building a nest across the road from the school about a month ago.
Cheers!
